THE DESIGN

At Schurrel Design, Design concepts are inspired by Art, Culture, Couture, and most importantly, by personal consultations with you, the client and bride. At our initial consultation, I seek to learn what each you are looking for in a wedding gown and turn your vision into a reality.

Design features are chosen to fit you, the bride. Together we choose gown features based on your silhouette, personality, and vision. Embelishments are then used to highlight your most prominent features.

THE PROCESS and EXPERIENCE

At our first consultation, we will discuss your wedding dream. Specifically, I will gain an understanding of your vision for the perfect day: season, location, ceremony, music, etc... You will bring along your design inspirations: pictures, color swatches, magazine clippings, family photos and things that will tell me about you and your hopes for your wedding day. From there, we will talk about your vision of the perfect gown.

The Design:

I will use the information you provided me at our first consultation to sketch three to five designs that you can choose from. We can also take aspects of various designs and match your desired vision. After you have chosen a design, we can make small changes to it in order to enhance your personal touch and style.

Next, we will take measurements that allow me to pattern the gown and choose the perfect fabric that fits you. I will assist and educate you on the different varieties of fabric that will give your gown your certain desired effect. Together, our goal is to produce a custom gown that you feel radiant wearing.

The most important step in achieving proper fit is the drafted flat pattern. This is the step that sets Schurrell Design apart and makes your gown a one of a kind custom fit just for you. Perfect to your body’s proportions, it give you the most beautiful silhouette possible.

The Form:

Next, a sample dress is made using inexpensive material with the same weight of your chosen fashion fabric. This mock up dress is called a muslin. We will fit the muslin onto your body to check design lines, proportions, and other details. The muslin allows us to make small design changes to achieve just what you had envisioned. Perfect in every possible way!

Next, your dress is cut and constructed. Each step being preformed with perfection and a loving hand. At Schurrel Design, we emphasize that each gown is a precious piece of art. It is our goal that you will wear a gown that is a work of art on the most special day of your life.

During your final fitting, you will receive a portfolio that will include your design, photos and notes from the process. Just like you, a Schurrel Design Gown is one of a kind, we take great pride in knowing the design process will create a unique and lasting memory.
